UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for creative cities

Writer and poet of Italian origin, Ms Francesca Merloni was designated as UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for Creative Cities in October 2017. This title was bestowed upon Ms Merloni in light of her work to promoting creativity as a strategic factor and catalyst for sustainable urban development, for her commitment with UNESCO's Creative Cities Network. 
Ms Merloni is the author of several monologues that have been adapted to the theatre. In the Marches region (Italy), she has also been artistic Director of Poiesis, an artistic festival that combined music, poetry, cinema and philosophy. 
Thanks to the initiative of Maria Francesca Merloni, the City of Fabriano was designated Creative City of UNESCO in 2013. The city is recognized internationally for its craft activities rich of a very old tradition and a great knowledge.
