The 2019 GEM Report will continue its assessment of progress towards the Sustainable Development Goal on education (SDG4) and its 10 targets, as well as other related education targets in the SDG agenda.  The Report will also present evidence on the scale and characteristics of different types of migration, and national differences in migration policies and patterns in relation to education. New evidence will be presented on the gaps in educational opportunities and outcomes between immigrant students and their native peers. The Report will also aim to explain the influence of education on migration, as well as the distinct but complex challenges that movements of people present to education systems and skills acquisition.

The empirical analyses will be based on a rich array of new datasets from both international and national sources. The analysis and the discussion will highlight examples of policies/programs that practice inclusion while valuing the cultural background and experiences of migrant learners. It will conclude with context-relevant policy recommendations for host and home countries.

The 2019 GEM Report is due to be published at the end of 2018.
