Webinar: Consultation on the Global Education Monitoring Report

Event Date

The Global Education Monitoring Report (the GEM Report, formerly known as the Education for All Global Monitoring Report) is an editorially independent, authoritative and evidence-based annual report published by UNESCO. Its mandate is to monitor progress towards the education targets in the new Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) framework. The 2020 GEM Report is dedicated to inclusive education, drawing on policy, practice, and evidence from the field. As part of this process, the editorial team is holding a series of consultations with researchers and other relevant partners.

At the 62nd Conference of the Comparative and International Education Society in Mexico City, Will Smith from the GEM Report team held a consultation with members of the Special Interest Group on Inclusive Education. This webinar is a follow up to this consultation.

Aid to education: a return to growth?

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) have set an ambitious target for the international community: by 2030, all young people should be completing secondary school of good quality. The challenge is a daunting one; in 2010–2015, on average only 45% of young people were completing secondary school. More and better financing will be an essential part of any strategy to achieve the goal.
