Thematic day – Education and Migration (Switzerland, Bern)

Event Date

NORRAG and RECI (Réseau Suisse Education et Coopération Internationale) are organising a Thematic Day on “Education and Migration”. The event, which will take place on 6 November in Bern, will look at the topic both from a Swiss and international perspective.

NORRAG is specifically leading a workshop on the Right to education and migrations with Koumbou Boly-Barry, UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Education. Other topics discussed at the event will include: What education systems have to provide to meet the needs of young refugees and asylum seekers and to ensure their right to education? What requirements must education professionals satisfy? How can previous training and certificates be recognised in a new country? And how can education contribute to help someone integrate in the society?

5th International Conference on Education Monitoring and Evaluation (China, Beijing)

Event Date

Manos Antoninis will present the 2017/8 GEM Report Accountability in education: Meeting our commitments at the 5th International Conference on Education Monitoring and Evaluation (ICEME 2018) which will be held in China, Beijing on 27-28 October 2018.

The ICEME 2018 will provide a unique opportunity to discuss the most recent research findings and practices in the field of educational monitoring and evaluation. Two main themes will be covered: (1) methods and techniques for assessment and evaluation; and (2) translation of assessment and evaluation results into effective actions. Moreover, the feasabilities and potential strategies for establishing an International Network of Educational Assessment and Evaluation will be discussed as a special issue during the conference.

The ICEME 2018 is hosted by the National Assessment Center for Education Quality from the Ministry of Education. ICEME aims at sharing the international experience and knowledge in the monitoring and evaluation of education systems. ICEME is organised every two years - first in China and then in France.

International Policy Dialogue Forum (Jamaica, Montego Bay)

Event Date

Katarzyna Kubacka will present material on teachers from the 2019 GEM Report Migration, displacement and education: Building bridges, not walls. The presentation will focus on the ways that teacher training can prepare for quality teaching for all, including the vulnerable groups. It will be feature in the sub-theme: Promoting equal learning opportunities for all through teacher education.

Background:
The International Teacher Task Force on Teachers for Education 2030’s annual meetings and policy dialogue forum will take place in Montego Bay (Jamaica) from 5 to 9 November 2018.

The theme of the policy dialogue forum is: “Strengthening Teacher Education: A prerequisite for quality teaching, training and learning”, a core concept in the provisions of teachers in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Education 2030 Agenda.

The Policy Dialogue Forum and meetings will gather 350 national and international participants, including policy makers, researchers, representatives of intergovernmental organizations, NGO’s and teachers.
