International course targeted to the practical and theoretical training of candidates for independent work in the restoration and conservation of underwater archaeological finds.

The project, Engaging Tirana Communities in Public Art and Politics, has been supported by the International Fund for Cultural Diversity and is now embarking upon its final phase.

Bosnia and Herzegovina hosted the Thematic Dialogue Platform on the role of education in the development of social cohesion on 29 November 2019. The event held in Banja Luka brought together key representatives from the education sector, decision-makers and representatives of the international community, committed to quality education to build more prosperous societies. The event was organised as part of the "Dialogue for the Future" Programme, initiated in 2004 following discussions between the United Nations Secretary-General and the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

From 6-8 October 2019, the city Bamberg in Germany hosted the second regional workshop on the Role of Visitor Centres in UNESCO Designated Sites in Europe, as part of a series of workshops organized by the UNESCO Regional Bureau for Science and Culture in Europe to share experiences and give advice on how visitor centres do and can contribute to the management of UNESCO designated sites. The meeting  focused in particular on the contribution of such centres to Education for Sustainable Development through heritage interpretation.

Within the context of the Horizon 2020 project SHELTER, the International workshop on GLOCAL user requirements for Disaster Risk Reduction and Cultural and Natural Heritage convened by UNESCO Regional Bureau for Science and Culture in Europe at its premises in Venice, Italy, took place on 5-6 December 2019 with the support of UNESCO’s Disaster Risk Reduction unit and guidance of SHELTER’s project partners, notably the project coordinator Tecnalia.

Human-induced marine ecological degradation involves the loss of ocean benefits to society. It is vital that awareness and activation to ensure marine sustainability be unlocked and production processes, management and business methods optimised. The Ocean Literacy Professional Development Training for Business Sector will be hosted by the UNESCO Regional Bureau of Science and Culture in Europe from 16-17December 2019 at its premises in Venice, Italy. Participants will gain an intimate understanding of how the ocean affects the success of their business and how those actions in turn affect the ocean.
