As a result of school closures due to the spread of COVID-19, many countries have resorted to distance education in order to maintain teaching and learning. However, this sudden move occurred with little time for teachers to prepare, acquire or improve their ICT, digital or social media skills. With little support, teachers are experiencing stress and anxiety besides coping with their confined life during the pandemic. Moreover, the technology required in conducting distance education is also leading to a greater inequality for marginalized and vulnerable teachers and students.

The objective of this webinar is to facilitate knowledge exchange within the Caribbean region on the issue of teachers. Countries, ministries and teachers in the region will be brought together to share experiences and expertise.

The following topics will be discussed during the webinar:
-Safeguarding teacher profession and condition of work
-Preparedness of teachers for emergency situations
-How can teacher union and MoE support teachers during COVID-19
