The Working Group on Hydrology of Forest Systems of the UNESCO Intergovernmental Hydrological Programme for Latin America and the Caribbean (IHP-LAC) was established with the objective of disseminating capacities and policies related to the interaction forest and water systems. This programme promotes the study of the relationship between water and soil-vegetation complex in order to better understand the hydrological functioning of ecosystems.  

The project seeks to train the technical teams of the Ministries and/or Secretariats of Social Development, Labor and Youth so that they can train vulnerable groups in digital skills and thus improve their job placement opportunities.

In the framework of the cooperation agreement between UNESCO and the Ibero-American Association of Attorneys General, and in collaboration with the Training Centre of the Attorney General's Office of Uruguay, the UNESCO Regional Bureau for Science in Latin America, through its Communication and Information Programme, will offer the Seminar on "Freedom of Expression and Criminal Law", to be held virtually on 27 and 28 September 2021.

In the framework of the XVIII Meeting of the Latin American Federation of Faculties of Social Communication (FELAFACS), the UNESCO Regional Office in Montevideo will organize the event on the Media Development Report in Uruguay: diagnosis, perspectives and challenges. The webinar will take place on 6 October 2021, from 17.30 to 19.30 Uruguay time via Zoom.

Recognising that water science research related to the cryosphere in Antarctica is crucial to understanding the interactions between climatic, hydrological, ecological and social phenomena on a global scale, the Antarctic Water Science Regional Working Sub-Working Group was formed in June 2021. This group aims to bring together glaciological experts to support the strengthening of scientific knowledge on the hydrological cycle processes and their environmental interactions in Antarctica, particularly through regional cooperation. It is an initiative of the Regional Working Group on Ice and Snow of the IHP-LAC (Intergovernmental Hydrological Programme in Latin America and the Caribbean) of UNESCO.
