On this occasion, the proposal of the Network of Women Philosophers of Latin America (REDDEM) is to make visible a wide range of reflections by women philosophers, coming from different countries of the region, to think together about -and from- a context of health, economic, political and humanitarian crisis of enormous proportions.

According to a report by the Ibero-American Network of Climate Change Offices (RIOCC), the Ibero-American region has one of the highest incidences of wildfires in the world.  Drivers of fire patterns across the Americas include agricultural patterns, deforestation, and climate change related factors.   At a regional level, monitoring of fires is inconsistent and fire management is only beginning to incorporate integrated fire management plans that may be based on indigenous fire knowledge. Drawing on science, good practices, lessons-learned and innovations from across Latin America, this webinar series will focus on case studies with presentations and discussions from experts and UNESCO Global Geopark and Biosphere Reserves stakeholders to better plan and implement integrated fire management in the sites. The overall aim is that participants will emerge with new knowledge and perspectives that can be applied in UNESCO designated sites and in wider contexts. Thus, enabling UNESCO site managers to expand their knowledge, tools, response and adaptation capacities and even develop policies and solutions across the region.

UNESCO’s course “Beyond the screen: journalism and technology”, will provide journalists in Latin America with new tools and perspectives to tell more thorough, critical and quality stories about the vast world of technology and the Internet. This course, led by Natalia Zuazo, an Argentinian journalist and political scientist, is aimed at journalists across Latin America and the Caribbean and it is designed to go beyond the trivial news and press releases about the latest technologies. It will explore innovative ways to report on technology-related issues taking into account the historical moment, diversity of sources, human stories, legal framework and social, economic, cultural and psychological effects. “In recent years technology journalism has been reduced to reviewing gadgets and blithely reporting on the newest releases,” Zuazo pointed out. She is the author of the books “Guerras de internet” (Internet wars) and “Los dueños de internet” (The owners of the Internet) and the director of Agencia Salto. “Along the way we've lost one of the essential purposes of journalism: providing relevant, groundbreaking information or helping us gain a better understanding of the world to make more informed decisions as citizens”.
