Celebrating World Teachers' Day in Nepal

Safeguarding Intangible Cultural Heritage in Non-formal Education in Nepal: Training Workshop for CLC Facilitators

As part of an intersectoral activity on ‘Living Heritage and the Sustainable Development Goals: Safeguarding Intangible Cultural Heritage in Non-Formal Education in Nepal, and in line with the recommendation of a ‘Review of non-formal education programme materials of Community Learning Centers (CLCs) in relation to the integration of Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH), August 2021” and feedback received from CLC managers and education officers from respective local government during the two-day Orientation Workshop held in November 2021, UNESCO is organizing a five-day training for CLC-facilitators from 9 to 13 January 2022 in Kathmandu.

Orientation workshop on Safeguarding Intangible Cultural Heritage in non-formal education in Nepal

Closely with Nepal’s Centre for Education and Human Resource Development (CEHRD), UNESCO is organizing a two-day orientation workshop for Community Learning Centres (CLCs) managers and education officers from local government. 15 community learning centres have been selected jointly with the CEHRD representing all the provinces of the countries inclusively. The participating CLC managers and education officers of respective local government will develop content for a five-day training for CLC facilitators.

Sub-regional workshop South Asian Silk Roads Transboundary Serial Nomination and Cultural Landscape Initiative

The workshop is co-organised by the UNESCO Office in Kathmandu and the Department of Archaeology in close cooperation with the Asia-pacific unit of the World Heritage Centre, as a follow up to the three previous sub-regional workshops held between 2014 and 2018. The workshop will bring together representatives and experts from Bhutan, China, India and Nepal as well as international experts, ICOMOS and UNESCO to discuss potential serial and transnational World Heritage nominations of the Silk Roads cultural routes network in South Asia.

Finalization of professional development manual for CLC facilitators and managers

UNESCO is developing a training package for the non-formal education managers and facilitators in line with the new federal structure of the country and school sector development plan. A two-day validation workshop has been organized in this context to get input and finalize the manual.

Teachers: leading in crisis, reimagining the future with pandemic as catalyst for change

In celebration of this year’s World Teachers’ Day, UNESCO Office in Kathmandu is collaborating with the Forum for Women Teachers to organize a virtual session to discuss on the teachers’ role in this pandemic and taking the pandemic as a catalyst for change.

Thematic workshop for the organization development of Community Learning Centre

To mark International Literacy Day 2021, UNESCO Office in Kathmandu supported and collaborated with Shikharapur Community Learning Center and the Centre for Education and Human Resource Department to organize a series of capacity building workshops for Community Learning Centres in all seven provinces. The series of events is aimed at the organizational development of Community Learning Centres (CLC) in Nepal. A series of events have already been organized. The events include capacity building for CLC facilitators. Elocution contest will be organized on 1st September. The first three winners will get prizes on different themes such as the role of facilitators in community development. The main event will be organized with the participants from all seven provinces on 6 September, where CLC representatives from each province will make presentations.
