About UNESCO Office in Guatemala

In 1950, UNESCO's actions in the country began with the creation of the Guatemalan Commission for Cooperation with UNESCO. In these six decades, Guatemala and the Organization have worked together for a development based on the promotion of education, the promotion of the culture of peace, support for youth and the recognition and protection of cultural heritage.

The UNESCO National Office in Guatemala was officially opened at the end of 1996.
