Conference "What is the place of jazz and improvised music within contemporary music in the Maghreb?”

Within the framework of the celebration of the International Jazz Day and the project “Music for sustainable development in Morocco and Tunisia”, the UNESCO Maghreb Office, Anya-Music for All and the Hiba Foundation will organize, on 30 April 2021, from 3.00 to 5.00 p.m. (UTC), an online conference entitled “What is the place of jazz and improvised music within contemporary music in the Maghreb?”. This conference will bring together artists and festival directors from Algeria, Morocco, Mauritania and Tunisia in order to discuss this question.

Youth perspectives on the futures of education for persons with disabilities

The third Youth Webinar organized in collaboration with the Office of the Secretary-General’s Envoy on Youth is on its way! Focusing on the futures of education for persons with disabilities, the discussion will feature four inspiring young panelists and examine effective practices and inclusive policies for students with disabilities and neurodivergent learners. It will represent a great opportunity to exchange experiences and identify necessary transformations for education systems in the future.  Simultaneous interpretation will be provided in English, French and Spanish, as well as international signing and Kenyan sign language.

Asia Pacific Regional Forum for World Press Freedom Day 2021

To mark the significance of the global contribution of the original Windhoek Declaration and of the World Press Freedom Day (WPFD) in the past three decades, UNESCO Offices in Jakarta, Bangkok and New Delhi are organizing the the Asia Pacific Regional Forum for World Press Freedom Day on Friday, 30 April 2021 at 1PM-3.30PM online via Zoom. Indigenous Peoples and Sustainable Heritage Forum

UNESCO Bangkok, the Sirindhorn Anthropology Centre and the Chulalongkorn University Social Research Institute are organizing a series of roundtable discussions on the challenges and opportunities facing Indigenous Peoples (IP) and Sustainable Heritage.  The roundtables aim to create dialogue among practitioners, scholars and advocates for IP rights in order to contribute to the existing state of knowledge, policies and practice for Thailand and the Mekong sub-region.

Climate-Resilient Water Management Approaches: Adaptation in an Age of Uncertainty. Enhancing Urban Water Resilience: Case Studies from South America

The sixth event of the series on “Climate-resilient Water Management Approaches: Adaptation in an Age of Uncertainty”, hosted by UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Hydrological Programme (IHP), together with the Alliance for Global Water Adaptation (AGWA) and the International Center for Integrated Water Resources Management (ICIWaRM), will address the topic of urban water resilience. The two presentations will bring case-studies from Latin America and the Caribbean, regarding the impacts of climate change and hydrological extremes and their consequences to urban water management.
