UNESCO AS PART OF THE UN SYSTEM

Programming and implementation of UNESCO’s initiatives is conducted in close coordination with the UN Development System at country level. UNESCO puts strong emphasis on its participation in the work of United Nations Country Teams (UNCTs) and UN inter-agency mechanisms, fostering coherence, efficiency, and enhanced quality delivery of its interventions under the auspices and leadership of the Residents Coordinators (RCs).

In order to do so, UNESCO seeks complementarity with other UN agencies, funds and programmes as needed to ensure that all UN entities speak with one voice to meet the growing demands for integrated, multi-sectoral and issue-based policy solutions in support to the SDGs and the challenges encountered by the 2030 Agenda.

UNESCO is a member of UNCTs in Bahrain, Kuwait, KSA, and the UAE, and Yemen and actively engages in various inter-agency working groups and discussions on Youth, Gender, Partnerships and Communication and Sustainable Development.
