Over the course of 2019 UNESCO and its partners actively supported Bangladesh’s visual arts industries - particularly its photography sector - through a range of capacity building, stakeholder convening and public sensitization activities and thereby enhanced awareness about Bangladesh’s culture sector and its contribution to the sustainable development of the country.
Under the umbrella of the UNESCO 2005 Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions, which Bangladesh ratified in 2007, as well as generously supported by the Korea Funds-in-Trust (KFIT), the UNESCO Office in Dhaka joined forces with the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, the National Museum of Bangladesh, the EMK Center, and Prito Reza Production, and jointly built stakeholder capacity, enhanced knowledge, sensitized stakeholders on the 2005 Convention, as well as provided concrete tools to photographers and policymakers including through the following activities:
1. Photography Master Classes (28-29 October 2019)
2. Photography Policy round-table discussion (30 October 2019)
3. Photography Competition and Exhibition (November 2019)
