On 21 May 2019 a launch event of the UN World Water Development Report (WWDR) 2019 entitled “Leaving no one behind” will take place in Tashkent. The event is organized by the UNESCO Tashkent Office and the Ministry of Water Management of the Republic of Uzbekistan jointly with the UNESCO Chair on Water Diplomacy, Water Resources Management and Environmental Protection at the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers. br /The presentation will feature key findings and program messages from the The United Nations world water development report 2019, which were officially presented on March 19, 2019 at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, in the framework of the Human Rights Council.br /The United Nations World Water Development Report (WWDR) is the UN-Water flagship report on water. It is a comprehensive review that gives an overall picture of the state, use and management of the world’s freshwater resources and aims to provide decision-makers with tools to formulate and implement sustainable water policies. Produced annually, it focuses each year on a different water-related issue.br /
According to the 2019 edition of the United Nations World Water Development Report, discrimination, exclusion, marginalization, entrenched power asymmetries and material inequalities are among the main obstacles to achieving the human rights to safe drinking water and sanitation for all and realizing the water-related goals of the 2030 Agenda.br /In this context, improving water resources management and providing access to safe and affordable drinking water and sanitation for all is essential for eradicating poverty, building peaceful and prosperous societies, and ensuring that ‘no one is left behind’ on the road towards sustainable development.br /
