At the World Education Forum (Dakar, Senegal) in 2000, the international community affirmed their commitment to achieving Education for All (EFA) by 2015 through the adoption of the Dakar Framework for Action.
UNESCO, as the global lead coordinating agency for EFA, will organizes the World Education Forum 2015 (WEF 2015) in order to take stock of how well countries have delivered on their commitments to EFA, to reach agreement on a new education agenda and to adopt a global framework for action for the years to come.

The outcomes of the Forum will be promoted by all stakeholders as an agreed position on education and as part of the global development agenda post-2015 to be adopted at the United Nations Summit meeting in September 2015.

UNESCO will be leading the way at WEF, in collaboration with six co-conveners, UNDP, UNFPA, UNHCR, UNICEF, UN Women and the World Bank , to build a powerful new education agenda which will transform lives.

The opening ceremony, opening plenary, debates and closing ceremony at the World Education Forum(WEF) 2015 will be LIVE webcast on the WEF and UNESCO websites.

Special Guests include: Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea and Education Minister Hwang, Woo-yea; UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon; Director General of UNESCO Irina Bokova; Executive Director of UNICEF Anthony Lake; President of the World Bank Jim Yong Kim; Executive Director of UN Women and Under Secretary-General Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka; UN High Commissioner for Refugees António Guterres; Executive Director of UNFPA Dr Babatunde Osotimehin; and the co-winner of the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize, Kailash Satyarthi.
