Workshop on Sustainable Tourism Action Planning in Khiva, Uzbekistan

The workshop, organized by the UNESCO Office in Tashkent in partnership with the EU and the municipality of Khiva, introduces the local tourism industry to the EU/UNESCO Project: “Silk Road Heritage Corridors in Afghanistan, Central Asia, and Iran – International Dimension of the European Year of Cultural Heritage” and identifies the priority issues and solutions needed to improve destination management and grow an inclusive sustainable tourism industry.
The outcomes of this workshop will be compiled to create a Tourism Destination Management Plan with the goal of being endorsed and supported by the local and national governments and serve as a road map for coordinating and investing in the priority actions needed to inclusively grow the tourism industry
