Within the framework of the UNESCO project “Enhancing the Capacity of Uzbek Media to Serve the Public Interest. Phase II” funded by the UK Government, in cooperation with National Association of Electronic Mass Media (NAEMM) and Modern Journalism Development Centre, UNESCO Tashkent Office is organizing a 5-day workshop on theme “Fact-checking in caption video format” for journalists, bloggers and media specialists. The master-class will be held in Tashkent, 18-22 February 2020 in NAEMM and will be conducted by Mr. Moath Althaher, Jordanian specialist in fact-checking. The workshop will be focused on enhance knowledge of media specialists on fact-checking, writing fact-check materials, methods and tools of creating caption videos, which could help in practice of media specialists to prepare quality media content.
Moreover, the workshop aims at enhancing Media and Information literacy (MIL) competences and will contribute to journalism education. It will cover MIL and fact-checking concepts, definitions, integrative approaches, resources, tools, and practical example of media initiatives identifying fake and promoting MIL.

The project “Enhancing the Capacity of Uzbek Media to Serve the Public Interest. Phase II” focuses on enhancing capacity of Uzbek media sector to produce more objective, impartial, accurate and inclusive high quality media content, including increased awareness of the roles and responsibilities of the media. UNESCO works on promoting Media and Information Literacy (MIL) through massive open online course and practical handbook on MIL and Fake news in Media for journalism students, pre-service and in-service journalists.
