Workshop on the Development of the Management Plans of Heritage Sites in the Micronesian region
A Workshop on the Development of the Management Plans of World Heritage Sites in the Micronesian region will be organized in Yap, Federated States of Micronesia (FSM), by the Yap Historic Preservation Office (HPO) in cooperation with the Pacific Heritage Hub (PHH) and hosted by the University of the South Pacific (USP) and ICOMOS Pacific.
The goal of the Workshop is to enhance the heritage management capacities in the Micronesian region, addressing the regional factors and training priorities identified through the 2nd Cycle of Periodic Reporting (2011). These factors include invasive species, climate change, loss of socio-cultural uses of heritage, transportation infrastructure, and the training priorities include conservation, education, risk preparedness, visitor management and community outreach. The Workshop programme includes a field visit to the Yapese Stone Disk sites.
