to Thursday 21 July, 2022
14:00

The Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Region is subject to various challenges pertaining to political and socio-economic instability. This has led to the lack of economic growth, low levels of skilled job creations and the highest rate of unemployed young people in the world at over 25.7% (ILO, 2019). In order to meet the current market demands, structural imbalances, and regional demographic boom, the MENA region needs to create more than 33.3 million new jobs by 2030.

In this context, the Webinar on Skills Development for Youth in the Mediterranean Region, taking place online on Thursday 21 July 2022 from 10:30AM to 1:00PM CEST, will be an opportunity to discuss challenges and opportunities pertaining to youth employment in the region. The Webinar also intends to review and reflect on the impact of the Youth Employment in the Mediterranean (YEM) Project, established in 2018 by UNESCO and funded by the European Union, as well as on the synergies that could be established with the process of the Transforming Education Summit (TES).

The Webinar will include representatives and direct beneficiaries from the participating countries; relevant Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) stakeholders and partners; national, regional and international TVET experts, and youth representatives and organizations.

Interpretations will be available in: Arabic, English and French.
