Water and Climate Day - UNESCO Pavilion at COP21
At COP21, an entire day will be dedicated to Water and Climate on the 2nd December 2015 at Le Bourget. On this occasion, UNESCO-IHP will organize various water-related events in the UNESCO Pavilion at COP21, celebrating also the 50 years anniversary of UNESCO water programmes.
Water plays a key role in climate change negotiations. To celebrate the 50 years anniversary of UNESCO water programmes a special event will take place to launch the book “Water, People and Cooperation – 50 years of water programmes for sustainable development at UNESCO”.
Various other events and panel sessions will introduce to water-related projects for coping climate change impacts from a broad perspective. The events will cover different themes like: water at schools, tools and methodologies to address water resources challenges, the UNESCO’s World Water Assessment Programme (WWAP), groundwater in changing climate, water quality and ecohydrology.
This is a unique occasion to discover about UNESCO’s work on water and climate change in the context of the climate change negotiations at COP21.
