The VIIth Latin American and Caribbean Conference on Social Sciences is organized within the framework of the XXVth General Assembly of the Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO). It is one of the largest academic research events in social sciences and humanities in Latin America and the world. The focus of this edition will be on "Democratic transformations, social justice and peace processes".

As part of this Conference, the UNESCO Cluster Office for Central America, in San José, is organizing a multidisciplinary panel which will address the link between the social sciences and the formulation of public policies focused on relevant issues for the region, such as inequality, inclusion, development, youth, and ethics.

The objective of the panel is to propose options for the promotion of inclusive social policies based on evidence that may be considered by those who make decisions at the national and international levels. In this panel the participants may identify problems and challenges existing in the themes of development, inequality, inclusion, youth and ethics in order to develop solutions.
