Lazare Eloundou-assomo@unesco.orgPresentation of UNESCO's Post-Conflict Actions in Mali, especially in the field of culture and education severly affected by armed conflict.
Between January 2012 and March 2013, Mali was affected by the worst crisis in its history, which led to the occupation by armed rebel groups in the North of the country (Timbuktu, Gao and Kidal). Education was severely affected, and cultural World Heritage properties suffered significant damages. At the request of the Government of Mali, UNESCO has undertaken a series of actions in the field of education, and for the rehabilitation of the cultural heritage and the preservation of ancient manuscripts.
