The Round Table on Building Sustainable Tourism for Green/Blue Livelihoods in Pacific Island Countries and Territories will take place in Apia at the time of the Annual Council of Tourism Ministers’ Meeting of the South Pacific Tourism Organisation (SPTO) (Apia, 1-5 October 2018) hosted by the Samoa Tourism Authority (STA). The Round Table will provide the senior delegates in the tourism sector from Pacific island states who will be in Apia with an opportunity to learn good practice in sustainable tourism for green/blue livelihoods including those at UNESCO designated sites.
Up to 10 heritage managers at UNESCO designated sites in Pacific island states will be invited to the Round Table on 1 October 2018, to present their experiences in managing sustainable tourism at the respective site, and to share challenges and opportunities with the high-level delegates in the tourism sector. The Round Table will provide a forum for dialogue among the experts and the government officials to explore public-private partnerships for innovative projects using new technologies contributing to environmental protection and inclusive economic development.
