UNESCO Conference: Historic Urban Landscape - MOSTAR 2015
The management of historical cities represents one of the most complex challenges of the authorities in charge of both their preservation and development, as well as of the well-being of their inhabitants. The 2011 UNESCO Recommendation on the Historic Urban Landscape is a tool to integrate policies and practices of conservation of the built environment into the wider goals of urban development in respect of the inherited values and traditions of different cultural contexts.
In order to raise awareness on the importance of these principles, within the overall framework of the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the inscription of the Old Bridge Area of the Old City of Mostar on the World Heritage List, UNESCO is organizing the “Historic Urban Landscape - MOSTAR 2015” conference jointly with the City of Mostar.
The main aim of the conference is to introduce the Historic Urban Landscape principles to professionals from across Bosnia and Herzegovina involved in the preservation of built cultural heritage and urban planning, and to present implementation methods for the application of the Recommendation, with a special focus on a participatory process involving decision makers, managers and the community.
