UNESCO is organising an Inception workshop for its SIDA funded project themed “Empowering Local Radios with ICTs” and scheduled to take place on 04 and 05 november 2015 at the Metropole Hotel in Kampala, Rwanda. During this event, the participants will learn more about the project and its expected results, as well as measures put in place to ensure the smooth implementation of this project.
Three roundtable discussions will provide community radio practitioners with an opportunity to interact with stakeholders on a number of issues including how to leverage the potential of ICTs to empower community radios in Kenya; community radio and infrastructure; and, strengthening networking among journalists and with relevant stakeholders.

The workshop will attract participants from the Swedish International Development Cooperation (SIDA), UNESCO National Commission for Uganda, Uganda Communication Commission, Community Media Network of Uganda, National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Uganda, Uganda Journalism Association, National Information Technology Authority – Uganda, ICT Association of Uganda (ICTAU), TRAC FM, Audience Dialogue, Mama FM, Radio Apac FM, Nakaseke FM, and, Speak FM.

This event is part of UNESCO’s ongoing SIDA funded project themed: “Empowering Local Radios with ICTs” (2015-2017) that aims at building capacities of radio practitioners in Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda.
