Within the framework of the Japanese Funds-in-Trust project "Capacity Building to Support the Conservation of World Heritage Sites and Enhance Sustainable Development of Local Communities in Small Island Developing States (SIDS)", the Tuvaluan government will organize a national workshop on World Heritage Convention at Funafuti, Tuvalu, on 11 March 2015.

The Workshop will provide an opportunity for government officials, experts, NGOs and community representatives to present diverse aspects of their heritage, and discuss challenges and a way forward for enhancing its preservation for sustainable development of Tuvalu.

The Workshop will develop an Action Plan for future steps in order to strengthen national capacity for the heritage safeguarding with a view to joining the World Heritage Convention.
