From 8 to 12 July 2019, a training for young professionals in the field of film industry entitled "Basics of documentary film production" will be held in Tashkent. It is organized by the UNESCO Office in Tashkent and the French Embassy in Uzbekistan with the support of the State Institute of Arts and Culture of Uzbekistan.
The aim of the training is to improve the knowledge and skills of young professionals and students in creating high quality and technically advanced documentary films based on international experience. Training participants will obtain necessary, practical and relevant information for the industry, learn how to work with cameras, sound, as well as learn how to mount.
More than 35 students and teachers from the State Institute of Arts and Culture of Uzbekistan, students of the "FOCUS" Film School as well as independent young professionals working in the field of documentary film will attend the training, which will be conducted by Mr. Luc Thauvin, film director, specialist in the field of documentary film, teacher of the company "Ciné le Miroir" (France).

The event is held within the framework of the UNESCO project «Strengthening cultural and creative industries in Lao PDR, Uzbekistan and Rwanda», which was launched in 2017 with financial support from the Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism of the Republic of Korea, as well as within the framework of the policy of audiovisual cooperation of the Department for Culture and Cooperation of the French Embassy in Uzbekistan. The development of cooperation in this area between France and Uzbekistan has expanded significantly, especially after the opening of the National Pavilion of Uzbekistan at the international film festival in Cannes.

Documentary film plays an important role in the development of society: it has an educational and research function and reflects public opinion. In this regard, it is very important to provide every assistance in the development of quality content and support for the production of documentary films, in general, through regular educational training, as well as the inclusion of specific individual courses in the curricula of specialized educational institutions in Uzbekistan.
This training is conducted in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. PP-3880 "On additional measures for the development of the national film industry", as it ensures the integration of theoretical training with practical work in the production of documentary films.
The training will be opened by Mr. Fuad Pashayev, the UNESCO Representative in Uzbekistan, a.i., Ms. Emilie Desormiere, Culture and Cooperation Adviser at the Embassy of France in Uzbekistan, and Mr. Ibrohim Yuldashev, Rector of the State Institute of Arts and Culture of Uzbekistan.
The official opening ceremony of the training will be held on July 8 at 11.30 in the building of the State Institute of Arts and Culture of Uzbekistan.
