UNESCO is organising training for law enforcement officers to strengthen their capacities in maintaining public order while upholding the fundamental rights to freedom of expression and access to information, from 11-14 April 2022 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The 4-day training activity will be implemented in partnership with the Ethiopian Police University, with the final two days in common with journalists and media representatives.

The main objective of the training is to establish more professional relations and create a dialogue between law enforcement and media professionals. Notably, the activity will identify good practices and policies that will contribute to reinforcing the role of security forces in upholding fundamental rights, including access to information and freedom of expression, for better respect for the rule of law.
