As reaffirmed at the 2015 World Education Forum, education is central to sustainable development. The Incheon Declaration “Education 2030 – Towards inclusive and equitable quality education and lifelong learning for all” reaffirms and supports Sustainable Development Goal 4 on education to: “Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all”. The only possible way to achieve sustainable development is through cross-sectoral efforts. These efforts begin with education - education which addresses the interdependence of environment, economy and society, triggering action for sustainable development.
In this context, UNESCO in partnership with DVV International is organizing a seminar-workshop to launch the development of a national strategy for Lifelong Learning in Uzbekistan.
With the participation of policy-makers and experts from the line ministries and centers responsible for the adult education, as well as the civil society partners and international experts, the seminar-workshop will seek to promote discussions on the access and quality of LLL opportunities in Uzbekistan for sustainable, inclusive and smart growth, raise awareness about the concept of lifelong learning within the SDGs and share good practices on creating an enabling environment for lifelong learning opportunities for all. It is hoped that the seminar participants will formulate recommendations for improved LLL opportunities in Uzbekistan and agree on an action plan for the drafting of the national lifelong learning strategy.
