Thinking Planet takes place on 21 April 2018 between 7 pm and 2 am at Tivoli-Vredenburg in Utrecht, the Netherlands. Organized annually by the magazine Filosofie Magazine, Thinking Planet is for everyone who wants to get a new perspective on their life questions and urgent matters by engaging with philosophy, including non-Western philosophy from all over the world.

Thinking Planet includes presentations by more than 40 Dutch and international thinkers, who will offer an encounter with philosophy, with particular emphasis on non-Western philosophy from all over the world.

The programme will shed light on cultures through lectures, discussions and workshops, with insights on big themes such as identity, burn-out and the environment. Programme contributions will include Eastern wisdom from Taoism and Buddhism, African Ubuntu, Islamic life art and Latin American philosophy of freedom. Other activities will include conversation exercises inspired by indigenous cultures like the Maori, relaxation through yoga and meditation and world music, poetry and storytelling.

UNESCO is associating itself with Thinking Planet 2018, in conjunction with the Netherlands National Commission, as part of its global efforts to promote philosophy in relation with the other humanities disciplines, as a contribution to public debate on major contemporary challenges, in particular through its Management of Social Transformations (MOST) Programme.
