t.schaaf@unesco.orgThe project started in 2002, and uses harmonized methodologies for 9 research sites allowing results comparing and knowledge sharing. In its second phase (since 2009), scientists from Belgium, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, China, Egypt, India, I.R. of Iran, Jordan, Pakistan and Tunisia collaborate on dryland research to combat desertification.
Thanks to the funding provided by the Flemish Government of Belgium to UNESCO-MAB, the Project existed during two phases of five years and resulted in many workshop proceedings and scientific publications. This project achieves its objective in sharing scientific work experience in the field and by building a relationship between scientific communities of all country partners involved in the project.
