UNESCO is partnering with Deutsche Welle (DW) Akademie to carry out the 6-day training for the 45 correspondents, who have been selected in consultation with the station managers of the following radio stations: Good News Radio (Rumbek), Voice of Hope Radio(Wau), Radio Emmanuel(Torit), Anisa Radio(Yambio), Easter Radio(Yei), Don Bosco(Tonj), Bakhita Radio(Juba), Star FM(Yei), Pibor Community Radio(Pibor), Morobo FM(Yei), Jonglei FM(Bor) and Voice of Freedom (Magwi).
The training will capacitate the 45 correspondents with basic journalism skills including use of mobile telephony for recording, editing and sending programs to their respective community radio stations, Peace messaging, conflict sensitive reporting among other basic journalism skills. This will increase the quality and quantity of peace programs as well as create a pool of peace ambassadors in the respective communities.
