The partnership between UNESCO and INRIA aims to develop joint projects with a view to contribute to the preservation and sharing of the technological and scientific knowledge of humanity, in particular the computer source code. The signing ceremony will take place in presence of UNESCO’s Director-General and the President of the French Republic.
This cooperation is part of UNESCO's action to preserve and share digital heritage and will rely in particular on INRIA’s Software Heritage initiative. Source of innovation and ubiquitous element in all modern scientific innovations and discoveries, Software has become nowadays an integral part of human life. The Software Heritage initiative aims to collect, organize, preserve, and make accessible to all the source code of all available software, a major global issue.
