Series of trainings on Ecological Journalism for Sustainable Development
The UNESCO Office in Tashkent is planning to hold a series of trainings on ecological journalism to promote sustainable development and effective use of natural resources.
One of the trainings will be organized in Nukus on 10-11 April 2015 in cooperation with the Khorezm Rural Advisory Support Service (KRASS), the National University of Uzbekistan and Karakalpak State University in Nukus.
Additional trainings will take place in Tashkent respectively on 7-8 and 13-14 April 2015 and will be organized in cooperation with Training Centre for Journalists and National Association of Electronic Mass Media (NAEMM).
More than 80 local journalists will participate in the trainings, which will focus on the concepts of ecological journalism and sustainable development.
The capacity-building will be based on the materials concerning ecological journalism and climate change prepared and adapted for the Aral Sea region, including the findings of a research project undertaken by the Center for Development Research (ZEF), University of Bonn, in collaboration with UNESCO and the State University of Urgench, between 2002 and 2010.
