Within the context of the General History of Africa (GHA) project, a one hour film highlighting the best moments of the film series on the GHA produced by Zeinab Badawi, famous BBC journalist and producer, will be screened between 12:00 and 13:30 in Room XI at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, on 10 November 2017.

This series of 9 films directed by Ms Badawi and funded by the OCP Group, a Moroccan state-owned company, has been broadcasted on BBC World during July and August 2017.

The films depict the African history from the early age to the contemporary time. Sudan-born film director, Zeinab Badawi, travels to all four corners of Africa, interviewing African historians, archaeologists, and citizens whose accounts and stories paint a vivid picture of their continent's past and how it informs their present lives. It is a series that informs, educates and entertains - Africa’s history told by Africans themselves.

This General Conference side event is organized by UNESCO's Social and Human Sciences Sector, Africa Department and Department of Public Information in close cooperation with the African Group of Member States and Kush Productions.
