a.da-silva@unesco.orgOn the occasion of the celebration at UNESCO of the International Day of Francophonie, 20 March 2019, the Francophone Group wishes to highlight French as a language of scientific research. The event aims to promote scientific research in French through the testimonials and presentations of young researchers, laureates of the "My Thesis in 180 Seconds" competition, and to publicize the activities of the Francophone Group and the UNESCO Science Sector actions to encourage young girls and boys to undertake scientific careers. Institutional players active in the promotion of Francophone research and scientific cooperation, such as the Association francophone pour le savoir (ACFAS), organizer of the "My thesis in 180 seconds" competition, and the Agence universitaire de la Francophonie ( AUF), will also be represented at the round table.
The event is intended not only for young (future) researchers, but also for those working in the UNESCO Secretariat and members of Permanent Delegations wishing to learn more about the aims and impact of the competition "My thesis in 180 seconds".
The work will take place in the form of an interactive round table with the participation of four laureates, who will share their experience in the "My Thesis in 180 Seconds" competition. The presentation of a scientific show by the association TRACES (the Atomes Crochus) whose goal is to encourage the commitment of young people to the practice of scientific research, is also planned.
