Justine Sass (j.sass@unesco.org)The purpose of the consultation is to promote evidence-based actions among education policy makers and practitioners from education, health and other sectors to ensure safe and inclusive learning environments, towards the full achievement of Education 2030.
The consultation also aims to raise awareness and build a common understanding of the role of the education sector to establish inclusive and safe spaces that respect all forms of diversity including gender and sexuality; and review the education sector’s response on the issue of inclusion and non-violence including: policy/legal and regulatory frameworks; curriculum and learning materials; teacher support; and support for students including links to health and social services; and expand and strengthen networks and cooperation among government bureaux, civil society, youth networks, media, and development partners to advance safe and inclusive educational environments. There will also be opportunities to identify gaps and opportunities, and short- and long-term priority actions to advance safe and inclusive educational environments that respect all forms of diversity including gender and sexuality.
The meeting will bring together representatives from the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, Ministry of Justice, Bangkok Metropolitan, national civil society organizations, academic institutions; and international organizations including UN agencies and representatives from embassies and international non-governmental organizations.
