Regional Workshop: Strengthening the Capacities of Latin American and Caribbean Countries for the Development of National Qualifications Systems

Objectives and scope of the workshop

• To review the state of the art of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Latin America and the Caribbean, current issues and future challenges.
• To determine the progress that has been made in the construction of national qualifications frameworks or systems in the region and to identify elements that can serve as a basis for regional cooperation in this area
• Promote and facilitate peer-to-peer dialogue, information and knowledge sharing, collective learning and mutual support among countries to raise the quality standards of TVET systems in the region.
• Favour the adoption of the United Nations Recommendation concerning Technical and Vocational Education 2015 and the implementation of the UNESCO Strategy for Technical and Vocational Education and Training 2016-2021.

Resultados esperados

Como producto final del taller, se espera obtener un documento con lineamientos para el diseño de la iniciativa regional y un plan de trabajo para su implementación con un cronograma de actividades a ser desarrolladas en el periodo 2019-2021.

Participantes

Representantes de los ministerios de Educación y/o Trabajo, del sector privado u otras agencias relevantes (por ejemplo, agencias de cualificaciones o certificadoras de competencias laborales), responsables de la administración de sistemas nacionales de Educación y Formación Técnica y Profesional (EFTP) o de la implementación de marcos o sistemas nacionales de cualificaciones en sus respectivos países.
