comunicaciones.santiago@unesco.orgThe principal objectives of the Regional Orientation and Capacity Building Workshop on Global Citizenship Education for Latin America and the Caribbean are to develop greater knowledge on Global Citizenship Education and help to integrate it into the education systems of the region.
The regional workshop is intended for representatives from the government, academic community, civil society and international agencies who work on topics such as education policy and planning, curriculum development, teacher training, school and teacher health, gender equality, human rights, and education for peace, among others.
The workshop is one of a series of regional meetings being held after several international technical consultations on the conceptual foundation of Global Citizenship Education. UNESCO has also developed guides for age-specific teaching and learning objectives on the topic, which will inform the meeting.
The need for Global Citizenship Education has been recognized by high-level policy and decision makers and was affirmed in the Lima Declaration of 2014 “Education for All in Latin American and the Caribbean: Assessing Progress and Challenges Post-2015.”
