Implemented within the framework of the Information For All Programme, under the priority area "Information Preservation", the main objective of this workshop is to support access to information and inclusive knowledge societies, by promoting long-term information preservation and accessibility to achieve sustainable development.
The specific objectives are:
• To analyse existing monitoring tools and indicators in order to identify potential indicators related to the sustainability of information preservation;
• Define a set of indicators (including the description, sources and means of verification, etc.) that can be used to measure the various dimensions of information preservation sustainability.
The workshop will begin with an official ceremony to be held in the presence of the Minister Secretary-General of the Government of Senegal, the Director of UNESCO Regional Office in Dakar, representatives of IFLA, National Archives, Library Institutions, and CSOs.
The workshop will consist of plenary sessions and group works during which participants will be invited to review indicators collated during the workshop preparation phase. The workshop will last three (03) days and will bring together about fifty participants (30 % women).
