Regional Ethics Teachers' Training Course
A regional ethics teachers' training course (ETTC) will be organized at the premises of the Khartoum University in Sudan, from 16 to 19 May 2016. This is a collaborative effort involving UNESCO, the UNESCO Chair on Bioethics at Khartoum University and the Sudanese National Commission for UNESCO. Deadline for registration: 1 March 2016.
The course will be conducted in English by a team of international experts with extensive experience in ethics education.
A model programme of 4 days will be followed including a session on bioethics teaching in the Arab region.
Ethics Teachers Training Courses are designed to:
- introduce the participants to the means and resources of teaching ethics;
- teach the participants the methodologies and methods of teaching ethics; and
- assess and provide feedback on the participants’ demonstrations of teaching skills under the guidance of experienced teachers.
A successful candidate for the Course will have a Master’s or higher degree (in areas such as law, medicine, philosophy, ethics, or social sciences), experience or future plans of teaching ethics, and a good command of English language.
Persons who want to register should submit a registration form to the Secretariat of the Bioethics Section of UNESCO (firstname.lastname@example.org) before 1 March 2016.
Applicants should include a letter of intent (600 words, in English) explaining why they wish to participate in the course and how they expect to benefit from it.
While the participation in the course is free, the participants are expected to cover their travel, meals and accommodation at the designated hotel by the organizer.
Applicants from Arab States will be given a priority.
