“Rapprochement of Cultures: One Humanity beyond Diversity” -, Fifth International Forum of NGOs in official partnership with UNESCO

Organized by the NGO-UNESCO Liaison Committee in close cooperation with the UNESCO Secretariat, with the support of the Chinese National Commission for UNESCO, the Fifth International Forum of NGOs in official partnership with UNESCO will be held in Beijing, People's Republic of China, on 27 and 28 July 2015.

The topic chosen for this Forum - “Rapprochement of Cultures: One Humanity beyond Diversity” - falls within the framework of the International Decade for the Rapprochement of Cultures (2013-2022), for which UNESCO is the lead agency, and concerns all fields of competence of UNESCO and its partners: education, science, social and human sciences, culture, communication and information.
Discussions will be organized around four general themes:

• “Training for global eco-citizenship for peace and sustainable development”
• “Learning from science to unlearn prejudices”
• “Digital culture, cyberspace for knowledge, dialogue”
• “Art, meeting point of cultural expressions”

Participants will also have the opportunity to discover a mosaic of cultures and the richness of different traditions, and discuss cultural diversity as a force for dialogue.

This Forum will gather NGOs in official partnership with UNESCO, but is also open to the participation of other institutions and representatives of Member States, subject to prior registration on the website of the NGO-UNESCO Liaison Committee (www.ong-unesco.org).
