Preventing Illicit Traffic in Cultural Property: the Role of Customs and Security Forces
National workshop on "Preventing Illicit Traffic in Cultural Property: the Role of Customs and Security Forces".
This national workshop will involve all Lebanese stakeholders including customs services, border police, and the Lebanese Army as well as the Ministry of Culture, INTERPOL, and museums.
Promotion of the 1970 Convention, regulating the protection of movable cultural property (prevention against illicit traffick, regional and international cooperation and return and restitution) as well as an intergovernmental framework for return and restitution of illegally displaced property, will provide tangible results of this workshop and allow the Lebanese stakeholders to undertake concrete steps within their national policies.
Discussions will be organized, with detailed consideration of case studies and appropriate training regarding the use of international tools.
