future.esd@unesco.orgA new framework on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), entitled ‘Education for Sustainable Development: Towards achieving the SDGs (ESD for 2030)’ was adopted by the 40th session of the General Conference in November 2019. The new framework will focus on ESD’s role as a key enabler for the achievement of the SDGs in the period of 2020-2030.
To launch the new framework and its roadmap for implementation, the UNESCO World Conference on Education for Sustainable Development will take place in Berlin, Germany from 2-4 June 2020, organized by UNESCO in cooperation with and generously supported by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research Germany, and with the German National Commission to the UNESCO as advisory partner. Ministers of Education and other Ministers responsible for ESD will be invited to attend the conference, and every Member State will be invited to nominate its delegation.
A preparatory meeting for the Permanent Delegations is organized to support active participation of Member States in the conference as well as in the implementation of the ESD for 2030 framework.
