Preparation for nominations related to the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage in Nepal
This workshop for nominations related to the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage in Nepal will go through the processes, by which elements of intangible cultural heritage are “inscribed”. As compared to the earlier workshops, this one deals with more formal procedures and official measures that have to be undertaken by the State Party.
The event is part of the regional capacity building project “Safeguarding Intangible Cultural Heritage through the Strengthening of National Capacities in Asia and the Pacific”, funded by the Government of Japan.
In brief, the five day workshop will include the following areas:
1. Introduction to the Convention and the requirements of the nomination process;
2. Evaluating sample nominations and making recommendations for inscribing elements on the above lists;
3. Developing key parts of a nomination file: a summary for the element, a community participation strategy for the nomination process, and a set of safeguarding measures for the element.
