Capacity-building workshop on community-based inventorying of the intangible heritage of the city of Kingston will be conducted with a participatory and integrated approach by actively involving various members of the communities concerned.
The workshop will be divided into theoretical and practical sessions. The theoretical training will introduce the requirements of inventorying from the viewpoint of the Convention, such as research, developing questionnaires, conducting interviews, etc.

Participants will then spend two days in a field-based practicum, carrying out inventorying work in small groups in two field locations namely Trench Town (Reggae community) and Port Royal (fishing/boat making community). Participants will then meet together to share their experiences.

The target audience of this workshop will include intangible cultural heritage bearers and practitioners, representatives of NGOs and institutions based in the selected areas of the city, as well as representatives of city governments. Participants trained during the workshop will undertake a pilot field exercise over a period of three months in the two selected areas in Kingston.
