The World Network of Biosphere Reserves consists of a dynamic and interactive network of sites of excellence. It works to foster the harmonious integration of people and nature for sustainable development through participatory dialogue, knowledge sharing, poverty reduction, increased human well-being, respect for cultural values and enhanced capacities to cope with climate change. br /
Currently, there are 686 biosphere reserves in 122 countries, including 20 transboundary sites. These are ideal places to explore innovative approaches to conservation and sustainable development. br /br /This exhibition, developed with the kind support of the Fundación Albertis, showcases how biosphere reserves around the world play a key role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by providing local solutions to global challenges. br /br /The World Network of Biosphere Reserves is managed by UNESCO’s Man and the Biosphere (MAB) Programme, which aims to enhance the relationship between people and their environments. It does so by combining the natural and social sciences to promote innovative approaches to economic development that are socially and culturally appropriate and environmentally sustainable.br /br /The exhibition is organized during the 31st Session of the International Co-ordinating Council of the Man and the Biosphere Programme (MAB-ICC).br /
