Inspired by the vision of the Director-General of UNESCO Irina Bokova for a new humanism in the XXIth century, this concert is given on the occasion of the International Day of Peace and will present at UNESCO Headquarters the world premiere of the symphony " Ode to New Humanism " by Wang Ning.

Under the baton of Maestro Zhang Guoyong (who will come especially from Shanghai), the 80 musicians of the Symphonic Orchestra of Shenzhen and its 134 chorus-singers will interpret this poetic work (texts by Wang Jingsheng) in five segments which evokes the fundamental elements of the Confucian culture based on the notion of unity between nature and spirit: earth (benevolence), fire (justice), wood (politeness), water (intelligence) and gold (honesty).

The concert is organized by the Melody for Dialogue among Civilizations Association, under the patronage of the Chinese National Commission for UNESCO.
