Ocean exhibition at UNESCO Pavilion

When, local time:
Thursday, 3 December 2015 - 10:30am to Friday, 4 December 2015 - 6:30pm
France, Paris - Le Bourget
Type of Event:

An ocean-themed multimedia exhibit will be showcased at the UNESCO Pavilion during the Ocean and Climate Forum and Oceans Day at COP21 on December 3 and 4, in the Climate Generations Areas (Paris-Le Bourget).
The work developed by the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO and its partners, the World Heritage Center and the 2001 Convention on the Protection of the Underwater Cultural Heritage (the latter will organize an event titled "Understanding the History of Climate Change and Sea Level Rise"), as well as the material they have developed throughout the years, will be featured in a multimedia exhibit. This exhibition aims to underscore the critical role of the ocean for the world’s climate, ensure that ocean-based solutions will be part of the global portfolio of climate actions and highlight the importance of scientific research and observation in order to better understand ocean-climate interactions.

Workshops and film sessions will focus on specific scientific information, solutions and initiatives to provide illustrations for the Ocean and Climate Forum, Oceans Day at COP21 as well as Ocean Call for Climate themes. Emphasis will be placed on the need to move forward on a strategic agenda on the ocean and climate that seeks to foster partnerships among all stakeholder groups and that places due importance on the need of a strong scientific knowledge-base for policy-making.
