Nepal: Training for journalists on "Social Diversity and Gender Equality"
A two days long training for journalists representing newspaper, radio and television, and a seminar among senior journalists and editors at Ramechhap district (Nepal) is scheduled by UNESCO Kathmandu Office in partnership with Jagaran Media Center and Human Rights Journalists Association. The event is organized under the IPDC-UNESCO project “promoting gender equality and pluralism in Nepali media by building capacity of journalists with special focus on gender perspective and sensitizing media persons to be more gender sensitive”.
This training will discuss extensively on the issues concerning gender sensitivity in newsroom and the role of media in promoting pluralism and diversity. At the closing session, a sensitization discussion will be organized with the local editors and content producers seeking role gender friendly media content. The training is based upon a training manual in Nepali prepared and published reflecting UNESCO’s Gender-Sensitive Indicators for Media: Framework of Indicators to Gauge Gender Sensitivity in Media Operations and Content.
